Weather condition in Everest Base Camp Trek
Everest Base Camp is suitable for the trekkers all round the year but you can best enjoy the snow between September to December and March to mid-May. Temperatures at the summit are never above freezing and during January temperatures can drop as low as -60° C (-76° F). Despite the low temperatures the biggest issue faced by climbers are hurricane force winds and wind chill. The weather is quite unpredictable in the mountains. As winters are very cold with a lot of snowfalls, at times it might be difficult for the trekkers to trek through the snow. In such weather condition, you might not be able to trek to a high altitude. So for your own convenience always carry some light tents with you.
Weather in the mountains is notoriously difficult to predict. However, it is not as gloomy and cold as you imagine, and the temperature generally features the big temperature gap, cold at night while warm during daytime. It is almost sunny and even warm in the summer time, about 12°C (22°F) colder than in Lhasa.
If you are thinking of trekking in the Everest Base camp during the summers, then it’s the most desirable time will be in the month of April and May. During summers get stunned by the amazing view of the peaks lost in the clouds. You can see the flowers blooming especially the Rhododendrons. The whole valleys look spectacular with the vast greenery and a mixture of colors. For the trekkers who love to enjoy the monsoons can visit this place earlier. Although it will be a wet season but the dust will be clear because of the rain.
